Best mouse I have ever owned - period. And I just ordered another one before writing this review. My original mouse lasted me just under 5 years before I called Logitech about it - they then sent me an MX620 as a replacement. That mouse is great also, but lacks the 3 buttons on top that I use for volume control and mute - It only has 1 button. I sold that one, which is why I'm back for the MX600 again.
Pros:
Clean design and color scheme
Reliable wireless connection - I even use this for gaming
10 Functions - Left+Right click + 8 more customizable (More about my setup below)
So ergonomic I never want to let it go - I truly hope this mold gets re-manufactured in the future
Ultra smooth movement - the plastic pads beneath the mouse are very smooth on this model
Battery Pull - A little tab making it easy to take your batteries out
Cons:
Battery life - with excessive use, I remember swapping AA's about once every 3-4 months.
Keep in mind, when I say excessive, I mean 12 hour days on average. Mouse sleeps when not in use.

A little about what makes this mouse so special; 8 customizable button configurations.
For me, I have a set-up which allows me to breeze through browsing the net, and it has other perks in other programs.
Left button (Thumb) (Front) - Ctrl+W (This closes browser tabs, tabs in most programs, and most regular windows)
Left button (Thumb) (Back) - Minimize (Get 10 windows out of your way in 2 seconds with no effort)
Volume Controls - Volume Up, Down, and Mute - Set to Default
Scroller (Push Left) - Backspace (Goes 'Back' in browser, and also makes it easy to delete selected text)
Scroller (Push Right) - Ctrl+T (Opens 'New Tab'** - In Photoshop serves at 'Transform' shortcut)
Scroller (Push Down) - Generic Button (Allows you to open links in new tabs)
**In Firefox - Use of the 'New Tab Homepage' extension a huge bonus - I use Google as my homepage, for fast and effortless searches
So just think, all of this added functionality without even touching the keyboard. It's like heaven when working. Of course, you can set your config to anything you want, I just find this the most efficient and flexible. It's to the point where it's second nature for me.

Bottom line - There are probably a few other Logitech models with this same button set-up. Any mouse should work fine. For me, as far as ergonomics and flexibility are concerned, this is the best mouse I can find, and I highly recommend this to anyone (right-handed, of course) wanting more out of their mouse - you will not be disappointed. The other ratings speak for themselves.

I bought this mouse as part of a desktop package (mx 3200). The keyboard is fine but the scroll wheel on the mouse is to loud, especially on the upward scrolling motion, and therefore distracting. In comparison, my $10 wired laser mouse is 'squeek' free.

I love this mouse. It is really comfortable to hold on to. I like having volume control on the mouse, but don't use the other features.
